This is the miniature for one of the player characters in my Celestial Winter campaign. He’s a human investigator who lives in Haven and makes a living practicing alchemy. The player requested orange and red as the primary colors! Sounds like an adventurous fellow – just the right sort to take part in an adventure.
I started out with the base coats flipped – orange where red is and red where orange is. It wasn’t really working out well, also I was using a lighter shade of red, but I was able to correct with a second set of base coats. I’m quite happy with the detailing on this one, all of the potions and gadgets were fun to paint as they really add character to the miniature. I did five layers on each potion/vial to give them depth – a white basecoat, a light blue basecoat, a strong color, a light drybrush accent color, and a light drybrush metallic white for the glass look. Per usual, I coated it with polyurethane and then a spray on matte finish.
